Who We Are
Bridging Traditions and Building Futures in Sweden
Founded on the principles of Unity, Integrity, and Trust, the Greater Noakhali Society Sweden (GNSS) is more than just an organization; it is a family for the diaspora of Noakhali, Feni, and Lakshmipur. Established on 23 November 2025 in Sollentuna, we serve as a cultural bridge, ensuring that while we integrate into Swedish society, our roots remain deep and our heritage stays vibrant.
Our Founding Vision
The society was born out of a shared need to create a structured platform for our community. Our vision is to ensure that no member of the Greater Noakhali region feels alone in Sweden. Whether it is celebrating a festival or providing a lifeline during an emergency, we stand together as one.
Core Pillars of the Society
Cultural Preservation: We are the guardians of our heritage—from the “Noakhailla” dialect to our traditional cuisine—ensuring our children stay connected to their roots.
Humanitarian Support: A reliable lifeline for our members, providing non-political and non-sectarian aid to those in need.
Integration with Identity: Supporting our members to thrive as successful citizens in Sweden while maintaining our regional values of honesty and hard work.
Membership & Belonging
Membership is open to all residents of Sweden originating from Greater Noakhali. Join us for an annual fee to help & support our community’s growth and welfare projects.
Strategic Objectives
Unity: Bringing together everyone from the three districts living in Sweden.
Youth Engagement: Introducing the new generation to the history and identity of their ancestors.
Social Welfare: Hosting at least three major events annually, including Eid, the Noakhali Mezban, and Pitha Festivals.
Transparent Governance
The Committee: Managed by a 9-member Executive Team elected every two years.
Accountability: All funds are strictly audited, requiring joint signatures for every transaction.
Neutrality: We are a strictly non-political organization where every member is treated with equal respect.
